Not everyone opts for a cat, dog, or bird as a pet—some prefer their companions to have scales instead of fur or feathers. While reptiles are often seen as low-key, tank-dwelling creatures, they can have just as much personality as a goofy Golden Doodle.
Take Percy, a bearded dragon who has captured the internet’s heart with his deep attachment to a particular sock. It’s not a tiny sock made for reptiles—it’s a full-sized human sock, almost as big as he is. Percy drags it around the house like a prized possession, but nothing gets him more worked up than laundry day.
Percy knows exactly which sock is his, and substitutes simply won’t do. When it’s time for a wash, he doesn’t take it well.
“So, when it comes to laundry day, Percy does not like that,” explains his human, Caitlin. “If I put the sock in the laundry, he gets all confused. Then he begins looking for his sock.”
And he doesn’t just search—he gets downright sassy. Percy chases Caitlin around the house in protest, head bobbing furiously. For bearded dragons, head bobbing is a sign of dominance, which means he’s not just looking for his sock—he’s demanding its immediate return.
