Saving one small life may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but when that life is in your hands, it becomes everything.
In 2022, Yassin Elmahgoub, a medical student from Egypt, took to social media to share the story of a baby parrot he rescued. Named Mumble, the parrot was born with birth defects and was unable to walk or stand. With the help of a parrot behavior consultant, Elmahgoub dedicated himself to Mumble's care, hand-feeding him, nursing him back to health, and assisting him with mobility exercises.
In a TikTok video that quickly gained over 8 million views, Elmahgoub documented Mumble's journey from his fragile beginnings to the moment he took his first steps.
“I bottle-fed him and began his treatment,” Elmahgoub shared. “It took days and hours of support and physiotherapy, but our team did it.”
And they did. But even more heartwarming than seeing Mumble walk for the first time was Elmahgoub's pure reaction to his progress. Watch the joyful moment:
The persistence and patience Elmahgoub invested in Mumble paid off, and his celebration was nothing short of joyful. Viewers couldn't help but share their admiration.
“I love animals, but the pure joy on that guy's face is simply beautiful,” one commenter wrote.
“This is one of the most heartwarming things I’ve seen in a while. Thank you for sharing this,” another said.
“Oh, I wasn’t prepared for those tears!” one user added. “What joy this sweet bird has brought him. SO sweet!”
Since the viral video, Elmahgoub has continued to share Mumble's progress. Check out this update from Day 60, where Mumble flaunts his vibrant blue feathers in all their glory.
Mumble’s progress didn’t stop at walking—he eventually learned to fly, a truly remarkable transformation.
Congrats to Mumble, and a huge thank you to Yassin Elmahgoub for his compassionate care. If we all cared for living beings with such kindness, what a beautiful world it would be.
