Sure, dogs might not fully understand everything we say like humans do, but that doesn't stop us from having full-on conversations with them. And when they seem to get what we're saying? Pure comedy gold.
Take this dog mom’s hilarious pre-grooming pep talk with her three Shih-Tzus, Branston, Pickle, and Gizmo. She doesn't hold back, letting them know exactly what’s in store for them, and it seems like they really got the message.
Branston, the so-called troublemaker, gets a firm warning, including a little talk about not fabricating his backstory. “I don’t need you running in telling the first dog you see that this is what your hair used to look like when you lived in the Bronx running up and down the block, because I know for a fact, Branston, that you live in a rural village,” she tells him.
Fans of Branston, however, weren't too bothered by his alleged Bronx history, with one person joking, “Don’t be mad at the treats I got, I’m still Branny from the block.”
In the video, Branston is also told not to go around claiming he “identifies as a Bull Mastiff,” which results in the most adorable look of disappointment from the little guy.
As for Gizmo and Pickle? Mom’s advice to them is simple: pretend they don’t know Branston.
The best part? Her British accent, which makes the whole thing feel like a scene straight out of “Ted Lasso.” And of course, the Shih-Tzu trio’s shocked expressions when they find out their weight class.
Maybe Branston, Pickle, and Gizmo’s mom is onto something. According to allshihtzu.com, Shih-Tzus have a unique intelligence that’s more about emotional connection than solving puzzles. They might not have the herding smarts of Border Collies, but they sure know how to pick up on social cues.
But let’s be honest, even if they didn’t understand a word she was saying, she’d still be talking to them. Why? Because pets are family, and baby talk is just too fun not to use.
