Experts agree that while cats are capable of feeling emotions such as comfort, fear, grief, and even lust, more complex feelings like jealousy and revenge are typically outside their emotional scope. However, there’s one mischievous tabby cat that’s challenging those ideas, and his name is Milo.
Milo, who’s become a viral sensation thanks to his clever antics, has been featured in numerous TikTok and Instagram posts by his owner, Erika Longo. But one particular video, shared on May 25, truly showcases his devious side and earned him the title of “evil genius.”
In the video, Longo mentions that she hadn’t seen her other cat, Poppy, for over an hour. Meanwhile, Milo was lounging innocently on a blanket chest. Suspicious, Longo decided to check the chest, only to find Poppy trapped inside. Initially, she thought it was a simple accident, but soon realized that with Milo, “nothing is ever an accident.”
It turns out that Milo had carefully orchestrated a plan: he opened the chest, climbed inside, and lured Poppy in. Once she was in, Milo jumped onto the lid to trap her inside!
Millions of viewers across social media platforms were in awe of Milo’s apparent mastermind skills, though they couldn’t help but adore him. One person commented, “These are premeditated crimes. We need an entire documentary series on this sinister genius.”
Another wrote, “Milo definitely lets his intrusive thoughts win… EVERY TIME.”
A 2021 Japanese study showed that cats have the mental ability to plan and use their imagination, a skill Milo appears to be putting to good use. Whether his actions are part of a grand, evil plot or just a form of playful mischief remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Milo’s cunning antics are endlessly entertaining — though poor Poppy might disagree.
