This Interview Technique from a Communications Consultant Always Wins the Job

Job interviews are widely recognized as one of the most stressful experiences people face. According to a recent survey of over 2,000 individuals, job interviews rank as the fifth most stressful event, following health issues, financial problems, family conflicts, and being late.

Being well-prepared for the questions you'll be asked is crucial for managing this stress and improving your chances of success. However, many candidates overlook the importance of having a question ready for the interviewer when asked, “Do you have any questions for us?”

Jennifer Reardon, a communications director and consultant who shares her insights under the handle @notjenneeree on TikTok, offers a valuable tip for this part of the interview. She claims that her go-to question has led her to success in every job interview where she used it.

Reardon, who has amassed over 48,000 followers and nearly 3.7 million likes on the platform, revealed her strategy in a TikTok video that has garnered more than 3.7 million views.

In the video, Reardon explains, “Every job interview where I’ve asked this question, I got the job. After your interview, when they ask if you have any questions, try asking, ‘Are there any concerns you have about my candidacy that we can address before we finish?’”

Reardon suggests that this question allows you to address any reservations the interviewer might have about you, giving you the chance to resolve any issues before the interview ends. This proactive approach can significantly improve your chances by tackling potential objections directly.

The video sparked a flurry of responses from TikTok users sharing their effective interview questions.

Maura shared, “My favorite question is, ‘When thinking about your top performers, what skills and qualities make them stand out?’ They appreciate that.”

Mateo recommended, “Ask, ‘Based on our conversation, do you have any reservations about me moving to the next round?’ This can give you insight into your standing.”

Sadwook added, “I used this question from TikTok in my final interview for a job I wanted, and it went incredibly well.”

Another user suggested, “I always ask, ‘Can I have the job?’ and I usually get it.”

While no single question can guarantee a job offer, Reardon’s approach highlights an important aspect of the interview process: it’s not just about selling yourself but also about addressing the potential employer’s concerns and needs.
