Some cats really live the high life when it comes to entertainment, and Jasper the Cat is no exception. This pampered feline and social media sensation now has his own custom-built aquarium, allowing him to get a 360-degree underwater view of the fish swimming by. If there were ever a gold standard for “Cat TV,” this would be it.
According to Daily Mail, Jasper’s owner, Melissa Krieger, was inspired after watching her fish supplier clean the tank. Wanting to create a “mini SeaWorld” for her beloved Siamese, she spent $2,500 on a 125-gallon aquarium featuring a clear, cube-shaped viewing pod at the bottom—just the right size for a curious cat to peek inside.
For Krieger, the investment was well worth it.
“It’s great to see him so happy because you’ve got to stimulate their brains. It’s definitely been worth the money,” she told Daily Mail.
She added, “You spend that much on a TV, and this is like a TV for cats. As soon as we feed the fish, he comes running. He’s living the dream.”
Jasper’s tank, measuring 4 feet by 2.5 feet, is home to an array of vibrant tropical fish, including parrotfish—whose goofy, beaked faces make them just as entertaining to watch as they are to Jasper. Fortunately, the fish don’t seem to mind their furry spectator getting up close and personal.
The only challenge? Jasper has to share his next-level aquarium with his feline sister, Willow—because even in the most luxurious setups, sibling rivalry is still a thing.
Even renowned cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy took notice, sharing Jasper’s video online. For cat lovers, that’s like having Cesar Millan give a shoutout to your dog—a big deal in the pet world.
The Importance of Visual Stimulation for Cats
As any cat expert will tell you, environmental enrichment is crucial for a cat’s well-being. Visual stimulation, like watching fish swim, taps into their natural hunting instincts—especially the all-important act of stalking prey. Without these kinds of outlets, cats can develop behavioral issues like excessive scratching or litter box avoidance.
It wasn’t long before Jasper’s viral video had people asking, “Where can I get one of these tanks?” The company behind the aquarium, Aquatics and Exotics, may have just found itself in high demand.
Of course, you don’t need to spend thousands to keep your cat entertained. Experts recommend simple solutions like bird feeders, window perches, or even YouTube videos filled with hours of engaging visuals for cats.
Still, seeing the love and effort Jasper’s family put into making his dream aquarium a reality is truly heartwarming. Our pets bring us so much joy—sometimes, going the extra mile to return the favor is the best way to show how much they mean to us.
