Dog Scales Shelter Wall to Reunite With Best Friend

Dogs form deep friendships just like humans do, and keeping them apart can be tough—especially when they can sense their best friend right next door. That’s exactly what one animal shelter discovered when two inseparable pit bulls, found as strays, proved just how strong their bond really is.

Linda and Brenda were rescued together and taken to Minneapolis Animal Care and Control, where they were placed in side-by-side kennels, separated by a half-wall. But Brenda wasn’t having it. She wanted to be with Linda, and if that meant scaling a wall, so be it. In a move worthy of an action movie, she managed to climb over and reunite with her best friend.

Shelter staff knew the two had arrived together, but they didn’t realize just how bonded they were—until they walked in one morning to find both dogs in the same kennel. Confused, they checked the security footage and were stunned to see Brenda channeling her inner escape artist, scaling the barrier between them.

“One of my coworkers and I were walking through the kennels, and we had to do a triple take,” an employee told CBS Philadelphia. “Two pitties came to the front to greet us, and we were like, ‘Wait… what’s going on?’”

After witnessing their determination to stay together, the shelter staff decided that Linda and Brenda should only be adopted as a pair. Until they find their forever home, the best friends remain at the shelter—side by side, just as they want to be.
