Taco, a three-year-old golden retriever, has been eagerly awaiting the day his baby sister, Vanora, would be old enough to play with him. That moment has finally arrived!
Claudia Hughes, the proud mom of both Taco and Vanora, shared with The Dodo how Taco bonded with Vanora from the very beginning. “Whenever we placed her on the floor or the bed, Taco would lie right beside her,” Hughes said. It’s clear he’s always been a caring and attentive pup. For pet owners, there’s nothing more heartwarming than seeing their furry companion looking out for their little one.
Hughes also revealed that Taco would even wake up during the night for Vanora’s feedings—a truly sweet and selfless gesture. It’s no surprise that Taco was thrilled for his sister to grow big enough to play, and his joy when that day arrived was absolutely priceless. A video of Taco witnessing Vanora taking some of her first steps has captivated millions, garnering over 2 million likes on TikTok. Finally, Taco’s dream of running and playing with his sister has come true!
And how do dogs show their excitement? With zoomies, of course! If you’ve never experienced the pure, uninhibited joy of zoomies, Taco’s reaction in the video is a perfect example. If he could talk, he’d probably be shouting, “This is the best day ever!!!”

Hughes explained that Taco first got excited when he saw Vanora using her walker, and even more so when she began pushing it on her own. But his enthusiasm reached its peak when she finally took her first independent steps. Despite his excitement, Taco was careful to keep a safe distance to avoid accidentally knocking her down—a testament to what a gentle big brother he is.
“We’ve taught Vanora to hug Taco, pet him gently, and give him kisses on his head,” Hughes shared. “And when we’re upset with him, we don’t hit him.”
Both Taco and Vanora are learning valuable lessons about kindness. One day, Vanora will cheer Taco on and praise him for being such a good boy. But for now, we can confidently say Taco is the best boy and deserves all the love and head pats. Good boy, Taco!
