Some things once seen, can never be unseen. TikTok creator Mamadou Ndiaye, known as @mndiaye_97, has built a following by sharing fascinating, bizarre, and sometimes downright unsettling facts about animals. His content often leaves viewers feeling more informed about which creatures to avoid and which are surprisingly lovable.
But every now and then, Ndiaye drops a fact so shocking it leaves the internet collectively stunned. Recently, he shared a video about the Jacana bird, an unassuming creature with unusually large feet. However, the narrative quickly took a hilariously unsettling turn when Ndiaye introduced a photo of the bird appearing to sport eight extra legs—or were they claws? Either way, the sight was pure nightmare fuel.
One viewer aptly dubbed it “Birdie Kruger,” and they weren’t far off, as the Jacana’s quirks only grew more bizarre.
The dangling “legs” aren't actually part of the bird itself. They belong to its chicks, cleverly tucked under its feathers. Known as the “Jesus Bird” for its ability to seemingly walk on water, the male Jacana carries its young this way since female Jacanas leave after laying eggs. As the video progressed, it became clear why the mothers make a swift exit—perhaps for their own sanity.
Although Ndiaye began the video with an apology for the inevitable trauma, viewers were having none of it, expressing their humorous dismay in the comments:
- “I’d like to go back to the person I was 3 minutes ago,” one user lamented.
- “I’m sending you my therapy bill, and I expect prompt payment,” another quipped.
- “There’s a version of reality where I didn’t see this. I want to live there,” added another.
- “Your apology is not accepted. This bird is nightmare material,” someone joked.
