Watch: Lost Cat Comes Home and Rings the Doorbell to Be Let Inside

Sometimes, animals surprise us with just how human-like they can be—and one cat seems to have been paying extra close attention to her two-legged servants.

Lily, an 8-year-old indoor-outdoor cat, gave her family quite the shock when she rang the doorbell to be let back inside. Her family had recently moved to a new neighborhood, and after heading out to explore, she didn’t return as expected.

Stefanie Whitley, Lily’s owner, told WPXI-TV, “I was really nervous about bringing her to a new area with how she would react.” The family had only lived in their new home for about two weeks, so Lily wasn’t as familiar with her surroundings as she had been before. While venturing out to meet the neighborhood cats, she apparently lost her way and didn’t come home for four long days.

Naturally, her family feared the worst. “Normally, she comes home, but this time felt different, and I didn’t think that Lily was coming back,” Whitley admitted.

Then, out of nowhere, Lily made her grand return—in the most dramatic way possible. She hopped onto an object near the front door, meowed loudly into the Ring doorbell camera, then reached up to press the button herself, making sure her humans knew she was back.

The best part? The family’s excitement can be heard in the background of the video. Watch the adorable moment below!
