Though cats only communicate with purrs, meows, and other feline sounds, they certainly manage to express themselves to humans. There's the “I'm so cute, don't you want to feed me?” face, the “Pay attention to me now” antics when they crave attention, and the judgmental side-eye when they're not impressed. They sleep for hours in the most random spots, only to suddenly wake you up with their loud paws pounding through the house at 2 a.m. And let’s not forget how they act like you don’t exist in public.
While cats may not speak English—or any human language, for that matter—what if they could? British comedian Jake Lambert created a viral video imagining a cat-to-human translation, and it’s hilariously accurate.
“Wake up! I'm hungry, bored, and I want attention! Hellooooo,” he calls from outside the bedroom door.
“I am exhausted,” he continues, yawning. “I was up all night trying to wake you. Anyway, I'm going to sleep in a very impractical spot for about five hours. See you later.”
Every cat owner has experienced these moments at least once—and most likely deal with them on a daily basis.

Lambert's portrayal struck a chord with viewers, who found it completely relatable.
“My cats are demanding royalties for the script 😂,” one commenter wrote.
“Hahahaha the zero second warning between happy and absolutely raging,” another added.
“Cats are such great teachers,” said one user. “Right now, I'm taking a PhD in getting rejected and respecting boundaries (just not my own) 😆🐈⬛.”
“Watched this about 5 times since yesterday and laugh every time, especially the ear scratch bliss to hiss 😹. This is why cats scare me 😂,” said another commenter.
Others chimed in with their own versions of the cat dialogue:
“You missed ‘I really like this food, you should buy it again,’ followed by ‘I hate this food, why would you ever consider buying it?’”
“Plus, the dramatic gagging over the same food they devoured the previous day. 😂”
“This is my cat: enters living room meowing, and a waft of crap follows ‘Just did a dump in my litter tray, can you clean it ASAP so I can do another in 5 minutes?'”
“Also: ‘Please change my menu at least 3 times during each feeding. I’m not sure what I’ll fancy.'”
“All correct, along with the cat standing by the front (or back) door, undecided on whether they want to be inside or outside. 🤦”
Cat humor never gets old, and it’s comforting to know that cats everywhere share the same quirky, mysterious, and goofy traits, no matter where their owners live.
